This year’s recipient of the Small Business/Person of the Year (2009) is Rebecca S. (Becky) Gramling of Orangeburg Pharmacy, Inc. The award, sponsored by First Citizens Bank, was presented Thursday evening (November 2009) by First Citizens Bank’s Marketing Executive Matt Way, at the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet held at The Cinema.
Mrs. Gramling is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a certified diabetes educator. She is the owner of Orangeburg Pharmacy, Inc., the oldest pharmacy in Orangeburg.
Mrs. Gramling began working at the pharmacy in 1978 and purchased it in the early 90’s from Sumter & Mary Williams. She has expanded the products and services to include medical equipment, diabetic and ostomy supplies, knitting supplies as well as diabetes education classes and knitting classes.
She is the former president of the Pilot Club, a current member or and has served on the boards of Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association (DORA) and Edisto Habitat for Humanity. She attends St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she teaches Sunday School.
She is married to C. William (Bill) Gramling and they have one daughter, Suzanne.
